 Research
and Documentation Section
This section is divided into four units which are
the Genealogy Unit, History and Local Figure Unit,
Institution and Monument Unit, and Casting and Maintaining
Unit. The Chief of the Unit is Head of Research
Unit.
Aims
To make the Research and Documentation Unit as the
main resource with complete records of oral history,
biographies, casting of tombstones and genealogies.

Objectives

To
conduct reseach to the sites with historical
importance such as the cemetries, former settlement
areas and monuments. All these findings are
then recorded and casting will be done, photographed
and preserved for study. |

To
conduct recording through interviewing particular
persons such as the Royal Family, Dignitaries,
Persons being bestowed with titles, Heads
of Department, Senior Government Officers,
public figures and persons with history knowledge. |

To
collect all documents, records, reports, manuscripts
and books with historical values. |

To
record, document and preserve all findings
and materials obtained. |

Genealogy Unit
| • |
To
carry out research and arrange the Genealogy
of the Sultans and Royal Family, including
the Genealogy of the Pengiran-Pengiran Peranakan,
Dignitaries, Persons being bestowed with titles,
Eminent Persons and Warriors in Negara Brunei
Darussalam. |

carry out research and collecting datas and
historical materials of the Sultans and Royal
Family including the Pengiran-Pengiran Peranakan,
Dignitaries, Persons being bestowed with titles,
Eminent Persons and Warriors in Negara Brunei

| History and Local Figure Unit |
| • |
To
conduct all kind of oral history about Brunei
such as early history, settlements or villages,
institutions or anything related to historiography,
including customs and the life of Brunei citizens. |

To
conduct and collect historic documents about
leaders consist of political and well-known
figure in Brunei Darussalam. Researched were
made by interviewing and collecting materials
from 'secondary' sources. |

This
unit is lead by the Assistant Chief Research
Unit. |

| Institution and Monument Unit |
| • |
To
conduct research, compile and documentation
the higher institutions, schools, colleges,
mosques, suraus and religious halls and other
institutions that have important historical
events. |

To
conduct research, compile and documentation
the government buildings, monuments, clocks,
bridges, former settlements, old tombstones,
stone with inscriptions and other important
historical monuments. |

This
unit is lead by History Curator. |

| Casting and Maintaining Unit
|
| • |
Research
and preserve the traces of historical monuments
in places which have the items related to
Brunei history (inside or outside Brunei)
for study and writing materials for the contents
to be made known. |

Responsibles
in maintenance and documentation (casting)
of historical items such as old tombs, genealogical
stones, tombstones with historical data and
information. |
